How this website handles your information.
Last updated 17th September 2026.
Who is responsible
This website is run by Brian Rooney, a sole trader, who is responsible for how your information is handled (the "controller"). Contact: contact@homebuyertax.co.uk, or write to the postal address on the About page.
What we handle and why
Figures you type in. The calculators work in your own browser. The figures you enter are not sent to us or stored by us.
Anonymous usage counts. We may count simple events, such as "a calculator was used", to see which tools are useful. These counts never include the figures you entered. They are stored as daily totals, without IP addresses and without cookies. This counting is currently switched off. If we switch it on, this page will say so first.
Technical information. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, necessarily handles your IP address and basic browser details to deliver pages, forward emails and protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare keeps these technical and security records only for as long as it needs them to provide its service, under its data processing terms. We do not keep our own copies or use them to identify you.
Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, name and message, and use them only to reply. We keep the conversation for up to 12 months after it ends, then delete it.
We rely on our legitimate interests in running a secure, working website and answering messages. We do not sell your information or use it for marketing.
Who else handles it
Cloudflare hosts the site, protects it and forwards emails sent to contact@homebuyertax.co.uk. Google provides the mailbox those emails are forwarded to. Cloudflare and Google may process your information outside the UK. For eligible transfers to the United States, both participate in the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Where applicable, Cloudflare's data processing terms provide standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum, and Google describes additional contractual safeguards on its transfer frameworks page. Further details are available in these documents, or by contacting us.
Cookies and adverts
This site currently shows no adverts and sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Before that changes, this page will name the providers and you will be asked for your consent first.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and for inaccurate information to be corrected. You can also ask for it to be deleted, or for its use to be restricted, subject to the conditions in data protection law. Because we rely on legitimate interests, you can object to our use of your information on grounds relating to your particular situation. Email contact@homebuyertax.co.uk to use any of these rights. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top will change too.
These calculators give an estimate based on the published rates for residential purchases. They do not cover purchases by companies or trusts, multiple dwellings, shared ownership, new leases, mixed-use or non-residential property, linked transactions, or completions before the dates shown. This is general information, not tax or legal advice. Your solicitor or conveyancer will confirm the tax due. Rates checked against GOV.UK, Revenue Scotland and the Welsh Government on 16th September 2026.
